It's tough for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to six more T20 titles, and once went nearly four years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has accomplished all there is.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's challenging for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy being given a chance to create her most recent brilliance.

Initially recognized as the young family member of renowned former Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her nation failed to win either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her bow and seven global championships have followed from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a semi-final defeat by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

Some will argue the reasoning behind the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this century was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 came as she topped the run-scoring charts, but this performance was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"For those following me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it appeared I've had no rhythm at all," commented Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in each encounter, but this time it merely gave Healy's motivation.

A single was taken off the opening delivery and from that point the right-hander was on her way.

"The possibility to go out there and lock in a contest with her and merely enjoy the moment that way, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the World Cup - and her hundred in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, scoring 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was removed her side required another 66 at run per delivery - a manageable total now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can succeed."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup need to hear.

In recent days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph coming after success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before an encounter with longtime competitors England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may well be secure.

During that phase they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a game Healy was absent due to damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she subsequently stated she wanted to have participated with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those physical issues have pushed back consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her concluding event as leader in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
