Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Cars, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Law enforcement say they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Police then located multiple other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not informed of any physical harm in connection with the event," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the public for information.
An important official commented the incident rendered him without words and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he posted on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter focusing on residents of migrant background in five years prior.
